Botanical Rotation Strategy for Black Sigatoka
To lower synthetic chemical load per hectare without inducing biological resistance in your Integrated Pest Management (IPM) program, alternate Oryx (Eugenol 16% + Menthol 2%) and Kyron (Carvacrol 14% + Proanthocyanidins 0.5%) on 7-day preventive cycles.
BOTANICAL PROTECTANT FUNGICIDE (EW)
Target: Black Sigatoka (Pseudocercospora fijiensis)

Oryx

🌱 Eugenol 16% + Menthol 2% (Clove & Peppermint Extracts)
Formulation EW Emulsion
Field Dosage 0.5 L / Ha
PHI / MRL 0 Days · Exempt

Multi-site botanical protectant fungicide formulated for Integrated Pest Management (IPM) programs, disrupting the fungal cell membrane and activating SAR defenses with zero residual chemical load.

  • Eugenol (16%) inhibits ergosterol synthesis and halts conidia and ascospore germination.
  • Menthol (2%) induces Systemic Acquired Resistance (SAR) and stimulates photosynthetic activity.
  • Zero cross-resistance risk and 0-day pre-harvest interval for export fruit.
Tank Synergy: Pair with Zephyr (0.15–0.50 mL/L) for 30-min rainfastness or with Kymix when emulsifying with agricultural oil.

Kyron

🌱 Carvacrol 14% + Proanthocyanidins 0.5% (Oregano & Grapeseed)
Formulation EW Emulsion
Field Dosage 0.4 L / Ha
PHI / MRL 0 Days · Exempt

Botanical protectant fungicide rich in terpenic phenols and antioxidant polyphenols. Engineered for direct rotation with Oryx inside IPM programs to preserve functional leaves through harvest.

  • Carvacrol (14%) collapses the fungal membrane ionic gradient, halting germ tube elongation.
  • Proanthocyanidins (0.5%) stimulate lignin biosynthesis, reinforcing the foliar cell wall.
  • High operational cost-efficiency with a low per-hectare rate (0.4 L/Ha) on 7-day cycles.
Tank Synergy: Optimal mix with Kymix (1% of oil volume) when emulsifying in mineral spray oils.

What are the tank-mix incompatibilities for Oryx and Kyron?
Both Oryx and Kyron are highly stable oil-in-water emulsion (EW) formulations. To preserve the bioactivity of their active constituents (Eugenol, Carvacrol, and Proanthocyanidins):
  • Do not mix with strongly alkaline products.
  • Avoid mixing with copper-based or sulfur-based compounds.
Always agitate the container before use and perform a small-scale jar test prior to full tank preparation.
How do Oryx and Kyron control Black Sigatoka (Pseudocercospora fijiensis) without inducing resistance?
Both formulations combine direct multi-site antifungal activity with host plant defense activation (SAR):
  • Oryx (Eugenol 16% + Menthol 2%): Eugenol inhibits ergosterol biosynthesis in the fungal cell membrane causing structural lysis, while Menthol activates Systemic Acquired Resistance (SAR) and supports foliar photosynthesis without physiological stress.
  • Kyron (Carvacrol 14% + Proanthocyanidins 0.5%): Carvacrol disrupts fungal membrane homeostasis inhibiting mycelial growth and spore germination, while Proanthocyanidins stimulate lignin synthesis and chelate metal ions required for pathogen virulence.
Because these botanical mechanisms act on multiple cellular sites simultaneously, they prevent the development of resistant fungal strains.
What are the recommended dosages and application intervals in banana crops?
For preventive control of Pseudocercospora fijiensis in export banana (Musa acuminata AAA):
  • Oryx: Apply at 0.5 L/Ha in preventive programs on 7-day intervals.
  • Kyron: Apply at 0.4 L/Ha in preventive programs on 7-day intervals.
  • Zenithar: Apply at 0.5 L/Ha to 1.0 L/Ha for biorational management of mites, thrips, and whiteflies.
All formulations can be applied safely at any phenological stage of the crop.
How does Zenithar control mites, thrips, and whiteflies with zero chemical residues?
Zenithar is a biorational soluble concentrate (SL) combining botanical elicitor extracts (3%) with a modified trisiloxane polymer (70%). Its pest control mechanism is strictly physical-mechanical:
  • Hydrophobic layer collapse: Immediately breaks down the protective lipid barrier of the mite or insect cuticle.
  • Spiracle occlusion: Envelops the pest body, physically blocking its respiratory spiracles.
Additionally, it washes away organic and inorganic deposits (dust, honeydew, and surface waxes) from leaves and fruit, ensuring clean export bunches with zero chemical residues.
When should I use Kymix emulsifier versus Zephyr organosilicone adjuvant?
  • Kymix (Emulsifiable Concentrate EC - Ethoxylated Alcohol 12%): Use whenever the spray broth includes mineral or vegetable agricultural oil. At 1% of the oil volume, its interfacial orientation creates ultra-stable oil-in-water micelles that prevent phase separation in the mixing tank and reduce aerial drift.
  • Zephyr (Soluble Concentrate SL - Modified Heptamethyltrisiloxane 90%): Use as a super-spreading, penetrating, and rainfast adjuvant. It drastically lowers water surface tension to ensure complete coverage across waxy banana leaves. Dose at 0.15 to 0.50 mL/L with fungicides and insecticides, and 0.25 to 0.75 mL/L with herbicides.
What container sizes are available and how is farm delivery coordinated?
All formulations are supplied in heavy-duty sealed containers in 1-Liter, 4-Liter Gallon, and 20-Liter Drum presentations (with 100 mL and 250 mL bottles also available for specialty adjuvants). We coordinate direct delivery to plantations across Los Ríos, Guayas, and El Oro.
